Sharing what is going on for you, with someone who is not a friend or family member, can allow you to gain a new and fresh perspective about whatever is causing you difficulty.

Counselling offers you the time and space to explore whatever it is that you bring, in a non-judgemental, supportive and respectful environment.

It is not about giving advice; I will help you to find your answers and a way forward.
I believe we all have the potential to ultimately overcome our difficulties and find new ways of being.

I am a humanistic counsellor and work within a Gestalt framework, integrating approaches such as cognitive-behaviour therapy and mindfulness, depending on your needs and goals. I can help you develop awareness of your whole experience - your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and actions - in the 'here and now'.

When you have this insight you are better able to understand your patterns of relating to others and the world around you. Some patterns may be helpful; some may be preventing you from leading a satisfying life. From this new perspective, you are better able to discover new opportunities and make positive choices and changes, resulting in greater personal fulfilment and growth.

My approach is sensitive, warm, creative and accepting. Seeing a counsellor may feel daunting; I offer a safe, open and confidential space where you will be seen, heard and understood.

I support people who experience a range of difficulties, including:

-
anxiety
-
low mood
-
depression
-
relationship issues
-
family issues
-
loss and bereavement
-
work-related stress
-
low self-esteem or confidence
-
challenging life transitions or changes
-
illness or disability
-
issues arising from autism spectrum conditions
-
bullying
-
difficulties managing anger
-
trauma

Counselling support can be short-term (e.g. 6-12 sessions) or long-term. Together, we can explore your needs and the issues you bring, and decide what is best for you.

I adapt my approach to meet the needs of autistic clients.
